Daily Log: LM

Day 7: 05/20/16
Well, I guess some days are better than others... TH is not here, and we feel his absence. I gotta admit, I have not been extremely on task because so many things have me stressed out. However we did fix our non-working control box problem, so now all three motors work. We did some brainstorming about what to use in order to pass all four challenges, and came up with the idea - as almost all the other groups did - of installing a hanger in the bottom of our ROV to make it able to pick object up. Next class, we will figure out the rest of the gadgets. See you then!

Day 6: 05/19/16
Today was a very teamworky day, as all four members of Squid Squad worked on the same task and supported each other. We got to class, and after listening to a short but interesting lecture about hydraulics, installed the three motors to the ROV structure. Next, we went outside to study the buoyancy of our ROV, and cut a little bit of the floats in order to make it stable when in the water. Excited for next class!!

Day 5: 05/13/16
Hi! Today was awesome, I got a lot of work done! I finished waxing the motors, spent some time cleaning them throughly, and finally installed the propellors to each of them. It was exciting to see every motor actually working when connected to a battery. Next class, we will instal the thrusters in their positions in the ROV, and it will look great!

Day 4: 05/11/16
Hi there! My team and I did a pretty good job today. Each of us got into their task quickly and worked pretty hard. My individual job was to finish taping the motors very tightly -this is one of the necessary steps to making them water proof- and drilling holes on either side of the canisters that they will eventually go in. Finally, I attached each of them to a different colored cable that will eventually make them move! Exciting!

Day 3: 05/10/16
Today has been a very busy day for all four members of Squid Squad. We came in to class to realize that we were a bit behind the scheduled tasks, and had to begin work quickly. My individual job was to research about the Fish ID challenge and basically teach myself the ways we can, as a team, solve it successfully. Also we had our interview, which I believe went pretty well, and started our hands-on work!

Day 2: 05/06/16
Hi there!
This is LM, I wasn't able to make it to class the day we started, but my team has kept me up to date about this project and our different tasks. I am excited to start researching about ROVs and to contribute with different design ideas. Also, I hope to help bring this blog to life and make some positive changes. See you soon!

Day 1: 05/04/16
I was gone this day! It was sad to miss the first interaction with my new team mates, but they did a good job at telling me what I missed and now I feel ready to start with the project! Since this was the very first day of the project, it was all mainly about preparation, some team conference, and distribution of tasks. I learned that my job during the ROV building process will include taking care of the thrusters, which sounds exciting! To make up for the time I have missed, I will come in Thursday after school to work on any mini project that needs to be done.
