Day 6: 5/18/16
We started off by attaching the motors to the PVC of the ROV using zip ties through holes we drilled. That was successful although it was a little tough to figure out which motors went where...
After all that we headed to the pool!
Nothing really went wrong except we had too much flotation. So, after cutting off some pool noodle in increments we reached a perfect level in the water. ALMOST all the motors worked. If I understand the situation correctly, the motor that moves the ROV down works but only sometimes. And 'sometimes' is not good if we are in a timed situation.
We did not have time to fix this so now you know what will be on the next post. Hopefully only positive news!! fingers crossed.
Day 5: 5/13/16
Today was really tough. I fell far behind because there was a certain switch that was very hard to solder. I am not sure why both solders I used were not melting excess led. Anyway... at least I was able to finish the motors so LM could cover them in wax.
Day 4: 5/11/16
A lot happened today and time went by quickly!! I began by soldering the practice circuit board but when we realized we were getting pretty good at it, I went on to working on the ROVs circuit board. I think on my last log I was nervous to do stuff by myself but it really wasn't bad! I soldered to things and then helped my teammates solder their motor. It was weird to do that because they wrapped the wires perfectly and not much was sticking out for me to connect. Teamwork makes the dream work.
Day 3: 5/10/16
Today was tough because I am learning how to solder with another classmate but for some reason nothing was getting hot enough... After I can solder the practice control panel then we will move on to working independently on our own ROV which is crazy but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
Day 2: 5/6/16
It was a pretty relaxed day today so my team mostly worked on finding out information about ROVs. I learned that they are very different from each other depending on the mission. Basically, whatever the task is, there's an endless amount of supplies and attachments possible to complete that task.
Day 1: 5/4/16
Today is the first day of the blog!! We set up our team name (didn't take long) and we began to make our introduction page so ya'll can get to know us. I look forward to testing the waters :)
Please complete your daily logs before you leave class each day.
